Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and organise practical skills instruction sessions, following the curriculum set by the course awarding body and taking into account the course timetable and availability of resources, including machinery and equipment.
  • Deliver practical skills instruction sessions to ensure all learning outcomes are covered and ensuring the health and safety of students during the instruction session.
  • Assess and record the competence of students, review progress and provide feedback to the students on their performance in completing a range of practical Land-based Engineering tasks and skills.
  • Operate at all times to ensure the health and safety of self and others. Undertake relevant training and personal development activities as identified in Personal Development Plan.
  • Driving a departmental vehicle - the successful candidate(s) may be required to drive a Department minibus.
  • All Inspectorate Group 2 staff are encouraged by senior management to avail of opportunities for continuing professional development and to become a registered member of a professional body.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Applicants must have, by the closing date for applications: 2 GCSE/GCE O levels at Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
  • And A Level 3 Extended Diploma in Land based Engineering / Land based Technology / Agricultural Mechanisation. OR A Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Land-based Engineering. OR A Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Studies.
  • OR Equivalent. And One year’s relevant post-qualification experience of working in a Land-based Engineering or Agricultural Engineering role. And
  • A full, current driving licence enabling the licence holder to drive in Northern Ireland and access to a form of transport which will permit them to meet the requirements of the post in full.

Desirable Skills

  • In addition, applicants should be aware that after an eligibility sift, should it be necessary to shortlist candidates to go forward to interview, the Panel will carry out an objective evaluation of the information provided by candidates in response

Salary: £31,643 - £32,293 (£33,542 - £34,231 with effect from 1 August 2025). Location: CAFRE, Greenmount Campus. NICS Application form only, Vacancy closing date is Friday 18th July at 12 noon.
