Job description

As Supervisor, you have overall responsibility for your Room, your Staff and your Children.

Responsibilities

• To take the lead in the organisation and handling of a room
• To line manage staff
• To delegate roles and responsibilities
• To meet the needs of the children
• To build relationships with children, parents and staff
• To devise, implement and review age appropriate play programmes for all children in your room.
• To establish and maintain routines within your room and to have these routines displayed at all times.
• To ensure all staff, including yourself, adhere to routines and provide a stimulating environment for the children at all times.
• To treat the children with respect, display a caring attitude and to interact constructively with the children whilst catering for their individual needs.
• To organise/suggest outings and to liaise with the manager or deputy regarding such outings eg to the park
• To organise snacks both morning and afternoon and to organise for dishes to be washed and the kitchen tidied.
• To liaise directly with parents regarding the welfare and behaviour of their children.
• To be courteous and to treat the parents with respect at all times.
• To complete daily information booklets and to ensure all information recorded is accurately conveyed to parents.
• To liaise with other supervisors regarding new children coming to your room or children moving onto the next room and for arranging settling periods for such children.
• To participate in and maintain cleaning routines for the bathroom (as directed by the manager).
• To administer any medication to children as prescribed by doctors/parents and to ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
• To maintain cleaning routines within your room ie toys washed, floors swept, shelves and fridges cleaned etc.
• To maintain effective age-appropriate wall displays allowing for the display of the children’s work.
• Help keep room clean, tidy and organised at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 3 in childcare or play work essential
• Previous experience of working with children essential
