Reporting to the Equipment Technician Manager, this challenging 2 year programme gives the opportunity to work at the forefront of technology and you will be required to train with and support the existing Engineering Specialists on a wide variety of technical skills. The Apprentice Engineering Specialist will be supported and mentored, gaining training in and exposure of the tasks and responsibilities detailed, reflective of an Equipment Engineering Specialist. Modules you will undertake at Northwest Regional College are- Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Science, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Material Properties & Testing, Quality & Process Improvements, Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Design and Managing a Professional Engineering Project. https://www.nwrc.ac.uk/courses/advanced-technician-in-engineering-general-engineering-level-4-higher-level-apprenticeship-2 About the role, you will: Successful candidates will be employed by Seagate to gain valuable experience in our thriving global manufacturing business while studying for a General Engineering Level 4 course with no fees or costs associated with higher education. Throughout the two years you’ll develop invaluable skills in all elements of engineering, supported by close mentorship and academic guidance from North West Regional College. The hourly rate of pay that is being offered for this role is £13.00 per hour, annual compensation paid is £26,364 Participate in studies one day a week and earn while you learn. Complete HNC General Engineering Level 4 over 2 years at North West Regional College. Complete NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Engineering over 2 years. Learn new technical skills to increase knowledge and ability in equipment maintenance. Assist in the completion of preventative maintenance as scheduled on assigned equipment. Assist in fault finding and repair of unscheduled downs. Comply with health and safety policy and procedures. Coached and mentored by a wide variety of highly skilled, diverse, and experienced people. Be part of a high performing team.
Responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience or interest in Engineering/Maintenance with desire to work in Engineering in a world class industry.
- You must be over 18 years of age by 1st September 2025.
Desirable Skills
- You might also have Engineering experience or Engineering Qualification (level 3)
- UK: 32 UCAS points at GCE A Level with at least one pass in a related discipline, plus pass in GCSE mathematics (or equivalent) OR a BTEC level 3 qualification in an Engineering discipline. ROI: An Irish Leaving Certificate equivalent to 32 UCAS
