Employee Relations Human Resources Officer


Job description

The Employee Relations Team is responsible for providing advice, guidance and support to managers and staff on a range of employment matters, including discipline, grievance, Supporting Performance Improvement, Conflict, Bullying and/or Harassment. The Human Resources Officer will assist in the delivery of an Employee Relations service that embodies an Open, Just and Learning Culture approach and is consistent with the Trust People and Culture Priorities. The Human Resources Officer will work as part of the Human Resources Team responsible for Employee Relations. The post holder will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of a range of tasks and initiatives within their allocated team, and may be responsible for managing staff. The Human Resources Officer, while working under the direction of the Senior Human Resources Officer, will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a case load, provision of robust and authoritative advice on Employee Relations matters and the use of and reporting from various internal ICT systems. The Human Resources Officer will work in partnership with Trade Union colleagues to effectively manage Employee Relations cases. They may also support the management of Industrial Tribunal and Fair Employment Tribunal cases. Alongside internal stakeholders, the Human Resources Officer will liaise with a range of external stakeholders, including BSO Directorate of Legal Services, Complaints Agencies, Enforcement Agencies and Professional and Regulatory Bodies on matters of common interest.

Responsibilities

  • To assist in the delivery of an Employee Relations function that ensures the Trust complies with Policies and Procedures and relevant employment legislation.
  • To ensure Employee Relations activity is accurately recorded in a timely manner.
  • To support the co-ordination, development and delivery of training programmes as required within the Employee Relations Team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have a relevant University Degree or relevant Professional Qualification at Graduate level in Business, Management, or Human Resources Management, and one years’ experience working in a Human Resource field.
  • Possess four years’ experience working in a Human Resource field or a role which includes at least one year at a minimum level of Band 4 or equivalent.

Desirable Skills

  • Demonstrate experience of managing staff for a minimum period of 1 year.
