Job description

We are seeking an experienced Civils Supervisor to oversee and manage civil engineering and groundwork operations on-site. The successful candidate will ensure works are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and in line with company and client expectations. You will supervise site teams, coordinate with subcontractors, and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of groundworkers, plant operators, and subcontractors.
• Ensure all civil engineering works (e.g., drainage, ducting, foundations, kerbing, reinstatement) are completed to the required standard.
• Conduct daily site briefings and toolbox talks.
• Monitor site progress and report to senior management.
• Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, and plant usage.
• Carry out quality control checks and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Ensure all work is completed in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Assist with ordering materials and managing deliveries.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor or General Foreman in construction or civil engineering.
• Strong knowledge of groundworks, drainage, utilities, and reinstatement practices.
• SMSTS or SSSTS certification (Site Supervisor/Manager Safety Training Scheme).
• CSR Card.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills

• First Aid at Work Certificate.
• Temporary Works Supervisor Certificate.
• NRSWA (Streetworks) Supervisor ticket.
