Job description

The post holder will play a key role in providing an Alcohol and Substance Dependence Service in the Belfast Trust. The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of a patients care needs, the autonomous development, implementation and evaluation of care plans and will be required to support in the training of a range of nursing staff, medical staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team as required.

Responsibilities

• To undertake a holistic Assessment of individuals’ health, social and addiction needs and to provide subsequent evidence-based care and to evaluate the outcomes of interventions to improve clinical effectiveness.
• To employ harm reduction strategies and education to patients, carers and families on the impact of harmful substance misuse on physical and psychological well-being, including HIV and Hepatitis risk assessments.
• To increase patient awareness of and promote recovery principles and triggers to relapse.
• To work as a member of the Multi-disciplinary Team and to contribute to its overall performance and common aims, recognising and respecting the roles and responsibilities of other team members.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• 2 years post qualifying experience (i.e. Registered Nurse whose name is entered on part 1 (mental health) of the register maintained by NMC or Qualified Social Worker (CQSW, Dip in SW, CSS) Or Occupational Therapist) & currently registered with HCPC.
• Outline a minimum of 1 years’ experience in Mental Health Services and or Addiction services.
• Hold a current full driving licence valid in the UK with access to a car.
