Job description

An exciting vacancy has arisen for Senior Practitioner/Social Worker at Newry Family Resource Centre, a well-established Barnardo's Children's Service which works with vulnerable children and families. The service is funded by the Southern Health and Social Care Trust and Barnardo's, to deliver a range of assessment and therapeutic services to children and families. If you have a desire to undertake assessments and work therapeutically with children, young people and families to improve longer term outcomes for children, and you are you a qualified (Not in AYE) Social Worker with experience of working in a family and child care setting, we would like to hear from you.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will be part of an experienced, dynamic team undertaking assessments with families who are deemed to be in need, and are identified at either Tier 3 and 4 of Hardiker level for statutory intervention.
- Protective parenting assessments.
- Therapeutic, educational, preventative and support services to families where children are deemed to be at risk or in need.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Hold a professional qualification in Social Work recognised by NISCC and Registered with the NI Social Care Council.
- Have post-AYE and recent experience in a family and childcare setting across Hardiker levels 3 and 4.
- Experience of undertaking complex childcare assessments and/or court directed work and contributing to statutory decision making forums including the provision of written reports.
- Experience of working therapeutically with children/families effected by adverse experiences e.g. trauma, social disadvantage, family breakdown, parenting difficulties, mental health, domestic violence and substance misuse.
- Experience of applying child protection/safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Hold a full UK driving licence, business insurance and access to a car for work purposes (this criteria will be waived for candidates with a disability who can demonstrate alternative means of meeting the mobility requirements of the post).
Further Information
Salary: £34,696 - £42,541 per annum, pro rata.
