Graphic Designer/Multimedia Designer, Professional Technical Officer (PTO)

The PTO Graphic/ Multimedia Designer reports to the HPTO (Higher Professional Technical Officer) Graphic Designer and the successful candidate will: Generate fresh, cross-cutting, and up-to-date design and multimedia techniques to help support the delivery of the Department’s strategic objective. Responsibilities
- Generate fresh, cross-cutting, and up-to-date design and multimedia techniques to help support the delivery of the Department’s strategic objective. This will include utilising design and multimedia assets to connect with each target audience.
- Provide professional advice and expertise in taking forward design and/or multimedia projects and present new opportunities to help take forward internal and external communications.
- Conduct research on design trends, initiatives and avail of training opportunities to expand knowledge and techniques. Consistently deliver on design and multimedia projects in accordance with brief and within agreed trimeframes.
- Produce error free, high quality and attractive collateral for web ready publications, social media graphics and where required print ready artwork.
- In addition, to produce high quality and attractive multimedia content to include digital images, video animation and textual animations.
- May include creation of animated sequences using computer animation,editing and encoding audio files and performing media edits based on business area or user feedback. Ensure all design and multimedia outputs follow Departmental branding guidelines;
- Liaise with HPTO Graphic Design Manager, communications colleagues, internal business partners, suppliers and stakeholders in concept development stage and manage and co-ordinate the scheduling and prioritising of design and multimedia tasks.
- Maintain design tasks in accordance with established filing procedures and ensure backup of artwork and assets and that appropriate paper work and/or administrative functions (associated with any work related tasks).
- are maintained/completed; Work with existing graphic designers to develop skillset that will ensure all design and multimedia work meets accessibility requirements.
- Ensure that colleagues are updated on progress against plans.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Applicants must, by the closing date for applications have: A degree in Graphic Design or Multimedia Design.
- AND At least 3 years’ experience as a Graphic Designer or a Multimedia Designer or Graphic and Multimedia Designer working in a post producing designs for online, print, multimedia and digital across a range of channels.
