Responsibilities

• Carry out all roofing work associated with the maintenance and refurbishment of Housing Executive stock / buildings.
• Removing old roof coverings and replace with all styles of roof.
• Repairing and replacing lead work to roofs.
• Renewing or rebedding hip and roof tiles.
• Renewing or rebedding chimney pots.
• Repairing mineral felt and asphalt flat roof covering.
• Correctly replacing slates or tiles in isolated patches.
• Surveying and correctly identifying faults to pitched and flat roofs.
• Replacing/repairing/cleaning guttering and fascia.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Have successfully completed an apprenticeship in Roofing (either time served or skills based).
• Have a minimum of one year’s relevant post apprenticeship roofing experience working on improvement or maintenance of properties.
• Can demonstrate practical knowledge and understanding of current Health and Safety requirements and legislation in a maintenance/repair environment.
• A full current driving licence and access to a form of transport.
• As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.

About the role: £13.91 per hour Location: Newtownabbey (may be asked to work at other depots if required) Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm & Friday 8am - 3.30pm. The successful applicant may also be required to provide an emergency call out service, at night and weekends, on a rota basis Holidays: 35 days (pro rata) Duration: Temporary, ongoing
