Job description

The PATHS Programme is an evidence based whole school social and emotional learning programme for primary schools that has been implemented and supported by Barnardo's for over 14 years. In order to extend the development of SEL skills to more children in early years settings, we have developed an SEL for Childminders programme that utilises both the core concepts of the PATHS Programme and the training and implementation support provided by Barnardo's. The Programme Co-ordinator for this post will lead a pilot in Northern Ireland to support childminders and other relevant childcare staff involved in the delivery of Social Emotional Learning, and the children and young people participating in the Programme.

Responsibilities

  • As Programme Coordinator you will provide coaching support and whole-school/setting development to staff delivering our SEL programmes.
  • The PATHS Programme Team will support childminders to deliver Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) in their home setting.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Recognised professional teaching qualification and registered with the relevant professional body.
  • Experience of working in a NI/UK school environment as a qualified teacher.
  • Experience of engaging primary school pupils through effective learning methodologies and approaches.
  • Experience of delivering the NI/UK Primary Curriculum and it’s components.
  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle for travel to and from schools, and a willingness to travel to the areas stipulated above.

Desirable Skills

  • Post qualification practice experience in the PATHS Programme, or similar area of provision (SEL).
  • Experience of providing a co-ordination role and developing collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.

Further Information

Hours: Part Time, 1 Day Per Week (7.4 hours) Contract Type: Fixed term to 31 March 2026 (may be extended subject to funding) Salary: £31,512 - £38,339.60 per annum pro rata FTE.
