The Specialist Practitioner Psychologist will provide a high quality psychology service to support and enhance the psychological health and wellbeing of those referred to the service. The role will be a split post. The Specialist Practitioner Psychologist will provide specialist psychological advice using a Positive Behaviour Support framework to staff supporting ‘Looked After’ children and young people who present with behaviour that is challenging to manage in trust managed residential unit, working towards a reduction in restrictive practice. The role will also involve the provision of specialist psychological assessments (including intellectual disability diagnostic assessments) of children and young people to support their smooth transition to adult disability services or other appropriate referral routes. based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including ADOS assessments, self-report measures, direct observation and interviews with clients, family members and/or carers.

Responsibilities

• To contribute specialist psychological perspectives to case-planning and multi-agency conferences and reviews as appropriate.
• To provide training, advice and consultation to other professionals in relevant areas.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• At least 2:1 Honours Degree in Single Honours Psychology. Applicants for 8A post must show evidence of post-qualification continuing professional development.

• More than two years post-qualifying experience.
