Lead Manufacturing Engineer - Ballymoney A leading manufacturer in the heavy equipment sector is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join its dynamic team in Ballymoney. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a forward thinking organisation recognised for quality, innovation and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will work as part of the Manufacturing Engineering team and be responsible for enhancing and developing manufacturing systems, processes and equipment. The role focuses on maximising safety, quality and delivery, while reducing cost and inefficiencies in production.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Production Managers, Line Supervisors, Quality, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams.
- Schedule and manage team projects and timelines, ensuring targets are met.
- Assume ownership of the assigned product portfolio and lead related manufacturing activities.
- Work closely with engineering systems and standards teams to ensure compliance with relevant product and industry standards, including EN 1009.
- Identify and implement cost-effective design improvements and resolve build issues.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics for safety, delivery, quality, and cost.
- Mentor and develop manufacturing engineering talent within the team.
- Drive standardisation of components, builds, and processes across product groups.
- Participate in customer or dealer visits as the lead representative of the manufacturing function.
- Review production schedules to confirm manufacturing readiness and criteria are met.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Manufacturing or Engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership in strategic and tactical decision-making roles.
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (preferably CREO) and Product Data Management systems.
- Strong technical expertise in mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Familiarity with varied equipment applications and performance expectations.
- Track record of creative problem-solving and delivering innovative solutions.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.
- Strong project management and presentation capabilities.
