Bank Night Duty Care Assistant
Job description
Report to Nurses. Collect laundry basket & towels as required. All Care Assistants on duty commence household duties. Day room vacuumed & cushions taken off chairs and chairs brushed. All drinking glasses collected on a trolley. Make sure that all chairs are pulled into the middle of the room (so Domestic staff can mop behind them in the mornings). The duties and requirements are not exhaustive and amendments and additions may be required in line with future policy changes.
Responsibilities
- Report to Nurses. Collect laundry basket & towels as required.
- Toilet & put president into bed, cot sides erected & buzzers checked & pressure mat placed at bottom of bed, if required. Clean clothes are left out with 2 pads & 2 towels for their morning personal hygiene.
- Residents remaining clean laundry is put away neatly & hung up as required. Any dried clothes should not be left in clothes baskets but should be taken out and folded and put into their allocated pigeon holes to prevent creasing. Commodes cleaned.
- Remaining residents to be repositioned & toileted as required & left comfortable for the night. Charge the hoist for the next round.
- Laundry taken down & put into washing machine. Soiled clothes must be put into a red bag before being put into the washing machine.
- Tables wiped. Any equipment in day room is removed to its proper place. Room is left with chairs & tables arranged neatly.
- Toilets checked and left clean. Kitchen & staff room tidied & dishwasher put on. Check also that there is nothing left switched on in the kitchen e.g., cooker, deep fat fryer etc.
- Check on all residents. Organise breaks as instructed by Nurse.
- Make sure that kitchen, staff room are left clean & tidy before going off duty, ensure that toaster, microwave etc switched off. Care Assistants must remain to ensure Residents are settled, while Nurse goes to hand over reports, check the drugs.
- Please make sure that the dining room tables are wiped down and tables are set for breakfast for the next morning. Allocated wheelchairs to be cleaned each night.
- Ensure that all fluid balance charts, repositioning charts and food charts are completed before finishing the shift.
- Ensure all night checks are completed and placed in their rooms before leaving your shift. Any slings that have been washed must be put back into their allocated rooms.
