Job description

Drive and be responsible for the operation of a refuse collection vehicle or skip collection vehicle for the purpose of the removal and disposal of refuse and recyclable material. Working within the Environmental Cleansing Service (Refuse Collection), the post holder will be required to provide, in a safe and effective manner, a quality and efficient refuse collection service including all recycling collection activities, in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• HGV driving with additional duties.
• Supervise or assist with loading and unloading goods.
• Ensuring loads are safely secured.
• Follow traffic reports and changing route if necessary.
• Complete delivery paperwork and log books.
• Multi drops throughout Northern Ireland.
• Ensure deliveries are done in timely manner.
• Cleaning and operation of any power mechanism which may be fitted.
• Vehicle checks requiring routine maintenance (e.g. Oil and water checks).
• Ensure all safety stops, chains etc are available and operating.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations of the company at all times.
• Work and manage a team, ensuring safety of team and members of public.
• Engaging with clients.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Full HGV licence Category C, CLASS 2 driving licence.
• CPC and Digi Card.
• Strong customer focus.
• Ability to adapt to new situations.
• A desire to learn and expand product knowledge.
