Electrical Maintenance Engineer


Job description

Our client, the UK's and Ireland's leading supplier of kitchen doors and components are seeking a proactive and experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our team on the night shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance on a wide range of electrical systems and equipment to ensure optimum production efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on machinery and production equipment.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving issues to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine inspections and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Assist with electrical installations and project work as required.
  • Collaborate with the day shift engineering team to ensure smooth handovers and consistent engineering practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System).
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health & safety legislation and company policies.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
  • Proven experience in electrical maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, and control panels.
  • Dual-skilled or experience with mechanical maintenance tasks.
  • Experience working night shifts.
  • Familiarity with health & safety regulations in an industrial setting (e.g., PUWER, LOLER).
