Job description
The post holder will work as part of a team undertaking Enforcement duties across the Borough, providing a high visibility patrol presence in relation to Dog Control, Litter Control and Anti-Social Behaviour and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team undertaking Enforcement duties across the Borough, providing a high visibility patrol presence in relation to Dog Control, Litter Control and Anti-Social Behaviour and issuing Fixed Penalty Notices
- To seize, collect, impound, and transport stray and unwanted dogs
- To advise the Service Manager or the Head of Service on all relevant matters relating to the Borough
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- 5 GCSEs A-C (or equivalent)
- Experience of dealing with animals, including dogs, in a professional capacity to enable the safe impound and seizure and transportation of stray and/or dangerous dogs
- At least 6 months experience of enforcing relevant legislation to include detection and lawful disposal of offences
- At least two years’ experience of effectively dealing with the public by phone and in person
- Experience using MS Office, particularly Word
- A valid Category B driving licence
- Able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and Public/Bank Holidays as required
- A driving assessment by Council will form part of the selection process
- Consent to a basic Access NI check
Desirable Skills
- Relevant formal training e.g. enforcement, communication / de-escalation when dealing with the public in an enforcement role
