Job description
The post holder will demonstrate person centred care, through role-modelling this approach to care in their own practice. In addition, the post holder will play a supportive role in leading the development of services and SSDU, seeking opportunities for learning and development. Drawing on own expertise, the post holder will disseminate expert evidence based knowledge and skills in order to continuously develop self and others.
Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate the throughput of patients on a daily basis in the Specialist Surgery Day Unit (SSDU).
- Manage and prioritise competing demands of multiple specialties through the unit.
- Provide pre and post operative management of patients undergoing Vascular Surgery, Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery and Neurosurgical procedures.
- Role model and enable effective communication with patients and relatives to assist in their understanding of their illness, care and treatment.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered on Part 1 (Adult) of the NMC Register.
- Provides evidence of experience as a Registered Nurse with 2 years’ working within Vascular Surgery OR Cardiothoracic Surgery OR Neurosurgical environment.
- Provide evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
- Provide evidence of knowledge of current changes in HPSS and awareness of the impact changes have on the ward and hospital environment.
- Provide evidence of ability to manage change.
- Provide evidence of leadership skills.
- Provide evidence of high degree of interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills
- Demonstrate experience of caring for patients within an ambulatory care setting.
