Job description
The post holder will demonstrate person centered care, through role-modelling this approach to care in their own practice. In addition, the post holder will play a supportive role in leading the development of services and the care setting, seeking opportunities for learning and development. Drawing on own expertise, the post holder will disseminate expert evidence based knowledge and skills in order to continuously develop self and others.
Responsibilities
- Role model and enable effective communication with patients and relatives to assist in their understanding of their illness, care and treatment.
- Adopt a questioning approach to existing practices and constantly seek ways of improving care delivery and services based on available evidence.
- Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, to develop and co-ordinate care and services to ensure that they are effective and holistic.
- Participate in compiling duty rotas/annual leave/study leave arrangements to ensure that the team and the department has cover at all times.
- Is active in the orientation and induction of all new staff.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered on Part 1 (Adult) of the NMC Register.
- Provide evidence of experience as a Registered Nurse for 3 years’ with at least 2 years’ working within a Neurosurgery environment OR an acute surgical environment.
- Provide evidence of experience of managing patients with Neurosurgical and general surgical conditions.
- Have completed or be willing to complete Neurosciences short course.
- Provide evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
- Provide evidence of knowledge of current changes in HPSS and awareness of the impact changes have on the ward and hospital environment.
