Ophthalmology Services Manager
Job description
BHSCT Ophthalmology Services Manager Band 8b The Service Manager will be responsible through the Co-Director for the development and delivery of high quality care across ophthalmology services. He/she will participate in the strategic planning of these services, ensure effective multi-disciplinary working and make the most efficient use of resources to promote health. He/she will provide clear leadership and oversee the management of all staff within their span of control, working in partnership with the Clinical Directors, Clinical Leads and MDT Leads to advance and improve the services.
Responsibilities
- Lead the co-ordination of multidisciplinary teams in the review, development, implementation and delivery of strategies for the regional surgical specialties, ensuring integration with corporate strategy and service delivery priorities.
- Lead the development of a strategic plan for the delivery of services in line with regional strategies, Ministerial and HSCB priorities.
- Contribute to the Trust’s corporate planning, policy and decision-making processes as required and ensure the Trust’s objectives and decisions are effectively communicated.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A university degree or relevant professional qualification and worked for at least 2 years’ in a senior management role in a major complex organisation. OR
- Be in a senior management role or equivalent and worked for at least 3 years’ in a senior management role in a major complex organisation.
- Delivered against challenging performance management programmes for a minimum of 2 years’, meeting a full range of key targets and making significant improvements.
- Have worked with a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation, to achieve successful outcomes for a minimum of 2 years’.
- Successfully demonstrated high level people management, governance, leadership and organisational skills for a minimum of 2 years’.
- Experience of financial management and budgetary control in a major complex organisation.
