Job description

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the school nursing service. The post holder will be involved in the co-ordination and delivery of a high quality and efficient community child health service. He/she will enhance multidisciplinary working and will work across multidisciplinary and organisational boundaries to promote the welfare of individuals, families and communities. The post holder will be available to advise Senior Managers about matters relating to Child Health Services and family/client groups, and will contribute to effective leadership and management through the delivery of organisational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide effective leadership and management to the School Nursing Service, promoting at all times the values of the Trust.
• Be the Line Manager for a skill mix team of community nursing staff within school nursing.
• Demonstrate an appropriate level of support through clear visibility and/or accessibility to the team and others.
• Support and facilitate staff in the delivery of NI Healthy Child Healthy Futures programme

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Have 5 years post-registration experience which must include a minimum of 2 years at Band 6 in a community child health setting.
• Registered Nurse or Midwife on Part 1 or Part 2 and Part 3 of the live NMC Register.
• Hold a Degree or equivalent/higher third level qualification.
• Hold a full current Driving Licence valid in the UK with access to a car these criteria may be waived in the case on an applicant whose disability prohibits driving but who is able to organise suitable alternative arrangements.
