Job description

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of urology services in partnership with the Consultant Urologist and provide Nurse Led Services to meet the service needs. They will provide clinical and professional leadership to nurses within the urology service and take a lead role in training, development and supervision of other urology nurse specialists. They will support the future development of the Urology services and cooperate in a team approach to the continually improvement of care to urology patients.

Responsibilities

• Act as a Specialist Nurse to patients and as an expert resource for other nurses within the Urology Service.
• Assess care needs and develop, implement and evaluate individual programmes of care. Provide a one stop assessment for patients referred with lower urinary tract symptoms.
• Provide review sessions on selective aspects of urology including erectile dysfunction and kidney stone follow-up in conjunction with medical colleagues until deemed competent, and unsupervised thereafter (list not exhaustive).

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Level 1 Registered Nurse (Adult) on the live NMC Register.
• 3 years’ post registration experience at Band 5 working with Urology patients.
• Have completed or be willing to undertake specialist Nursing Modules in Urology within 1 year of taking on post.
• Have completed or be willing to undertake the nurse prescribing course.
