Job description

This is a Maternity cover role - starting from mid to late Feb for a period of 9-12 months. This is a very busy GP Practice with over 8,000 patients. The role includes a high volume of answering phones, making appointments, dealing with patients, reception cover, sorting scripts for reception, email management, liaising with GPs, Nurse and Pharmacists in the Practice. Admin team consists of 7 staff.

Responsibilities

  • Emails management.
  • Interpreter bookings, Ambulance bookings.
  • Incoming and Outgoing post.
  • Admin, patient notes, invoicing, reports, letter requests, payments.
  • Death administration.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • We require strong telephone experience and communication skills. (Receiving calls from patients is an important part of this role and it is vital that any candidate applying could relate to past experience.
  • Admin skills and experience of working within a team are vital, good knowledge of basic IT packages and email management/inboxes.
  • Strong teamwork is extremely important in this role.
  • Customer facing experience: Due to part of the role being at a busy reception area, dealing with our patients in a professional, caring and swift way is extremely important. Retail or any sort of public facing customer care is essential to this role.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in a GP Practice / Healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of EMIS healthcare package

Further Information

Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours vary between 8.30am to 6pm with a half-day off per week. Closing date 12 December 2025, interviews will commence 19 Jan 2026.
