GIS Asset Officer
Job description
You will be responsible for updating, maintaining, and developing the company’s Geographical Information System (GIS).
Responsibilities
- Update and maintain Phoenix’s GIS system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform quality audits on as-built data supplied by the Phoenix contractor to ensure required standards are met.
- Perform data analysis and data queries within GIS.
- To arrange site audits to monitor the accuracy of as-laid data supplied by our alliance contractor as stipulated in our alliance contract, recording data from site excavations in relation to the surrounding built environment.
- Investigate historical queries in relation to the potential alteration of existing network and if necessary, carry out associated post excavation site visit to record data in relation to surrounding built environment.
- To overview weekly extracts from relevant GIS databases and transfer this data onto relevant engineering laptops.
- Update existing LPS geography through the manipulation of drawings using GIS by scanning, rectifying and digitising.
- Complete a quarterly as-laid data extract as part of Phoenix data sharing agreement with other NI based utilities and subsequent quarterly translation and importing of utility data received from other parties for use on Phoenix GIS.
- Provide the role of Plant Protection Officer as and when required, including driving critical infrastructure routes, communicating & liaising with site contractors.
- Provide cover for our contractor, this will include working in the vicinity of open excavations recording the precise location of as-laid network in relation to the surrounding built environment at time of construction.
- Updating access databases and excel spreadsheets with relevant information as and when required.
- Printing maps for internal Phoenix departments as and when required.
- General filing duties.
- Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Phoenix’s corporate objectives.

Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 4 GCSE including English and Maths Grade C and above or equivalent.
- Experience using GIS.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong IT skills, including the use of Microsoft packages.
- Full valid EU/UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills
- 3rd Level Degree involving a GIS module.
- ESRI ArcGIS.
- AutoCAD.
