Elmwood Protection Services (part of the H&J Martin Group within the Lagan Specialist Contracting Group) is now recruiting a Door and Gates Engineer. The Door & Gate Solutions Department of H&J Martin Ltd is a leading Automated Entrance System provider, delivering new installations, maintenance and repair services of pedestrian, industrial and vehicular entrance solutions to many clients across both public and private sectors. We are seeking to add motivated skilled engineers to our team. We are looking for Engineers that have a learning mindset and will strive to deliver excellence consistently. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking various planned maintenance and reactive tasks to our high-profile customers. They will be focused on driving compliance and quality standards upwards within the industry marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned maintenance activities to include condition reports on a wide range of automated equipment, to include Auto Entrance Doors, Industrial Doors, Automatic Gates and Vehicle Barriers.
  • Perform fault diagnosis/repair tasks on a wide range of automated equipment.
  • Carry out the installation and commissioning of the afore mentioned equipment types.
  • To understand company and client specific procedures and to strive to apply them at all times.
  • Follow our Risk Assessment procedure in order to ensure the safety of all persons (including self) and prevent damage to property.
  • Approach all tasks in a logical and focused fashion.
  • Be willing to attend training and / or undertake qualifications in order to keep up to date with current regulations and best practice within the industry
  • Competently perform and document risk assessments and hazard analysis to a wide range of installed equipment to ensure that all foreseeable risk is either eliminated or reduced as far as possible
  • Be proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, access equipment and other specialist equipment necessary to perform the tasks described above.
  • Clearly communicate via the company’s defined methods, service/works records, findings, concerns and recommendations following each task.
  • Be efficient in the use of materials and other resources.
  • Willing to respond to emergencies and to be included in the ‘on call’ rota.
  • Ad hoc duties as instructed by management.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Have a recognised relevant trade and or technical qualifications in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Have relevant experience in the repair, maintenance or installation of Automatic Door or Gate Systems or similar types of equipment
  • Be able to demonstrate electrical competency
  • Have and maintain a valid driving licence
  • Have the ability to read and understand technical drawings and literature.
  • Have a proven ability to use mobile technology and be good with paperwork.
  • Be a good communicator both with clients and own team
  • Be self-motivated with a proven track record of achieving KPI targets

Desirable Skills

  • Be able to demonstrate competence in Automatic Gate or Automatic/Industrial Door safety standards by evidence of having undertaken relevant training / certification and by demonstrating enthusiasm for improving workmanship/compliance standards
  • Hold one or more of the following: ADSA BS7036 Authorised Technician Card, ADSA BS EN 16005 Qualification, a recognised gate industry qualification and / or City & Guilds NVQ level 3 or similar in an engineering discipline
  • Be a CSR card holder
  • I.T. Literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Have welding/fabrication skills
