Learning Activities Worker with duties listed below.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and organise social activities and programmes tailored to the needs of individuals, and group activities to bring people together.
  • Lead on education events within the hub through literacy and education programmes.
  • Identify additional needs within the hub and creating referral pathways both internally and externally.
  • Liaise with external agencies on partnership working for programme delivery.
  • Assist in developing an electronic library database to ensure effective record keeping and consistency.
  • Advising Manager on new database developments and encouraging changes subject to current trends.
  • Organising library induction programme for new library members and identifying interests and devising development plans.
  • Continuous sourcing and maintenance of book selections based on needs and trend.
  • Establish and review library policies and procedures including legal compliance with copyright legislation and adhering to data protection and licensing constraints.
  • Analyse and report monthly on current issues and trends in library.
  • Manage and evaluate performance through OBA Framework to ensure outcomes are met and increased social value.
  • Represent & promote the service within the wider local area to generate awareness and encourage involvement.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of external facilitators for delivering specialised programmes.
  • Keeping the library organised and tidy.
  • Devise and organise initiatives with a range of outside agencies to highlight significant calendar dates such as World Book Day, Art Week, Christmas etc.
  • Monitor electronic database and ensure the collection and return of books are within the agreed timeframe.
  • Ordering and displaying new stock.
  • Updating of information on social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter.
  • Maintaining a quiet environment.
  • Attending staff meetings, supervisions, appraisal and in-house training.
  • Adhering to BHCP’s Policies & Procedures.
  • Any other duties deemed to be relevant to this post.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 3rd Level qualification (Education, Early years, or Administration).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 2 years' experience working with the public.
  • Experience of using a database.
  • Customer care & quality assurance experience.
  • Devising and developing relevant programmes.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Experience of meeting deadlines whilst delivering a service to the highest standards.
  • Ability to monitor & evaluate the quality of the library service.

Desirable Skills

  • Certificate or Diploma in Teaching or Library Studies.
  • IT Qualification.
  • 2 years experience working in a Library.
  • Delivering community education programmes.
