Job description

To provide organ music and choral direction.

Responsibilities

• Provide organ music and choral direction to the Long Tower Senior Choir at the Sunday 12 noon Mass in Long Tower Church and at liturgical celebrations e.g. Christmas, Holy Week/Easter, St Patrick’s Day, St Columba’s Day.
• Recruit choir members and train choir at weekly rehearsals.
• Liaise with Parish Priest regarding music required for Masses and liturgies.
• Co-ordinate the annual carol service.
• Any other music related duties that may arise for time to time as designated and in agreement with the Parish Priest.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as an organist.
• Proven experience of choir direction.
• Ability to play organ to a high standard, demonstrating strong keyboard skills in sight reading and accompaniment.
• Good understanding of the role of Sacred Music.
• Good administrative skills and ability to co-ordinate a choir of volunteers.

Desirable Skills

• Grade 8 qualification in applicants preferred instrument or equivalent.
