Job description
Our ideal Leisure Attendant will ensure the safe operation, cleanliness, and customer experience of Killyhevlin Health Club facility by managing equipment, assisting customers, supervising activities, and maintaining a safe and hygienic environment. Key responsibilities include setting up and dismantling equipment, supervising pool areas, providing customer service, conducting health and safety checks, cleaning facilities, and sometimes assisting with events. This role requires strong communication skills, customer care, and a good understanding of health and safety protocols to ensure our guests and members have a positive experience.
Responsibilities
- Guest Interaction and Customer service: Act as a first point of contact for customers, providing information, assistance, and a high level of care. This includes handling enquiries and complaints and promoting facility events.
- Safety and Supervision: Supervise activities and areas, ensuring the safe use of equipment and facilities. For poolside roles, a key responsibility is the safety of the swimming pool environment.
- Equipment Management: Set up, dismantle, maintain, and safely store all sports and leisure equipment. This can involve moving heavy weights and using basic tool.
- Cleanliness and Maintenance: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all areas, including changing rooms and pool areas. This may involve using cleaning chemicals and machinery.
- Health and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety instructions, procedures, and regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
- Facility Operation: Take responsibility for security and ensure exits are safe and public are vacated. This can also involve managing the building's alarms when closed.
- Administration tasks: May include managing booking and membership systems, assisting with stock control, and updating marketing displays.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
- High standard of personal presentation.
- Good Standard of Education: English and Maths.
- Industry recognised fitness qualification.
- First Aid certified (current).
- NPLQ: National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (current).
- Flexibility: A willingness to work outside of traditional hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to deal with diverse customers, staff, and users.
- Customer Focus: A strong commitment to providing excellent customer care and setting a positive tone for customer visits.
- Problem-Solving: Skill in resolving customer issues and responding to unexpected situations.
- Health & Safety Awareness: A thorough understanding of health and safety principles, including risk awareness and the correct use of equipment and chemicals.
- Physical Fitness: The ability to work in a physically active environment and perform tasks that may involve heavy lifting or using machinery.
- Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a team to maintain the operation of the facility.
- Attention to Detail: Crucial for maintaining cleanliness and adhering to safety standard.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform tasks that require physical activity and being on your feet for extended periods.
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience of working in a private membership Health Club.
- Fully qualified to deliver a range of fitness and pool fitness classes (current).
- Experience of arranging Health Club promotional activities.
- Good telephone manner and IT Skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and juggle competing priorities in a busy, fast paced and challenging environment with minimum supervision.
