Job description

To assist with the safe and efficient erection, installation, and dismantling of structural steelwork on construction sites, supporting qualified steel erectors and ensuring all tasks are completed in line with health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the erection, alignment, and bolting of steel frames, beams, and columns.
• Carry, position, and secure materials, tools, and equipment for steel erection activities.
• Support qualified steel erectors and follow instructions from supervisors/foremen.
• Follow site safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and adhere to manual handling guidelines.
• Work as part of a team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

• Use basic hand tools, power tools, and lifting/rigging equipment under supervision.
• Perform general site duties including loading/unloading deliveries, clearing work areas, and maintaining site cleanliness.
• Previous experience in construction or steel erection preferred but not essential.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
• Comfortable working at heights.
• Basic knowledge of tools, lifting gear, and construction site practices.
• Willingness to learn and progress within the steel erection trade.

Desirable Skills

• Clean driving licence preferred.
