To provide a high quality venipuncture and blood sampling service for patients of Malvern Family Practice.

To provide a full and comprehensive venipuncture and sampling service with due regard to procedures governing safe clinical practice, confidentiality, cross infection and Health & Safety and to show respect for the dignity and comfort of the patients
To provide an efficient and accurate sampling service on all patients
To be individually responsible for carrying out procedures for the labelling and recording of specimens ensuring accuracy and sage practice according to established protocols
To have full working knowledge of blood collection tubes, forms and systems
To have a thorough knowledge of the appropriate range of tests for each container and to ensure that appropriate blood volumes are collected
To work as part of a multidisciplinary team liaising with medical, nursing, administration and laboratory staff
To communicate effectively with patients, parents and relatives
To understand and implement when required blood spill protocol and management of same
Cleaning and maintenance of clinical equipment
Reporting faults in line with practice protocol
Correct disposal and replacement of sharp bins in line with policies and procedures
