Childcare SEN Assistant
Job description
To assist the Leader in providing safe, high quality education and care for children aged between 2 and 12 years with special educational needs, to help fulfil legal and statutory requirements; to contribute to and implement Rainbowcfc policies. To act as a key worker for children with special educational needs and communicate progress on a regular basis with their parents, outside professionals and leaders and to supervise parent helpers during outings.
Responsibilities
- Help prepare and fully set out the room before children arrive and tidy up after the children/ young people leave.
- Listen to, encourage, enable, stimulate and ensure the safe keeping of the children and young people.
- Help provide and take part in all the group’s activities.
- To understand and realise the importance of play for the development of the child’s/ young person’s physical, intellectual and emotional needs.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Effective teamwork. Fluency in English for communication purposes.
- Level 2 Children Care Learning and Development in Early Years/OCN level 2 Youth Work or NVQ level 2 Early Years.
Desirable Skills
- OCN Level 3 Youth Work or NVQ Level 2 Early Years. At least 6 months experience working in a child care/ Youth club setting.
- 1 years experience working in a childcare setting as a special/additional educational assistant.
