To take responsibility for drawing up long term, medium term and sessional curriculum plans which take into account the requirements of the Early Years Foundations Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance, and to monitor the effectiveness of the setting's curriculum. This may include working with other external professionals.
Responsibilities
- To provide safe, high quality education and care for pre-school children. To fulfil legal and statutory requirements.
- To be responsible for providing a high quality of education and learning, ensuring that staff are properly deployed and offer appropriate stimulation and support to the children attending the setting.
- To take responsibility for ensuring that performance management systems are in place and followed e.g. induction, probation, supervision, team meetings, appraisals, objective setting etc.
- To be responsible for managing the registration and admissions process for the playgroup, including managing waiting list, invoicing for fees, and coordinating the induction new starters.
- To draw up and to supervise the daily programme of playgroup activities and events.
- Act as Designated officer and ensure that the welfare and safety of children is promote within the setting and that any child protection concerns are always appropriately acted upon immediately.
- To ensure records are properly maintained and updated, e.g. daily attendance register, accident and incident book etc.
- To liaise closely with parents/cares, informing them about the pre-school and its curriculum, exchanging information about children's progress and encouraging parents' involvement.
- To implement any recommendations made following regulatory inspections.
- To manage the playgroup petty cash system and to ensure that any systems for income collection or invoicing are followed.
- To ensure that children attending the setting receive a balanced and healthy diet.
- To attend any conference, training events or meetings relevant to the job role and to keep up-to-date with good practice.
- To undertake any other duties as directed by the Centre Manager and Management committee.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Must have Level 5 Qualification in Leadership for children's care, Learning & Development or equivalent.
- Communication: Ability to explain concepts and instructions in simple terms.
- Patience: Children may require more time to adapt to new surroundings.
- Problem-solving: Addressing challenges.
