Its mission is to "involve people who live and work in West Belfast in generating social, economic and physical development and to ensure West Belfast contributes to and benefits equitably from developments in the city as a whole". The West Belfast Partnership has established close links with government departments, Belfast City Council, elected representatives, the community and voluntary sector, the private sector, and the wider local community to encourage, develop and support a range of economic, social and physical regeneration projects in the West Belfast area. Key areas of work include Education, Housing, Planning and the Environment; Health and Well-being; Economic Development; Community Planning and Neighbourhood Renewal. West Belfast Partnership is committed to collaborative partnership working to make a real difference to people's lives in West Belfast and across the city. This role is part of the Department for Communities Job Start Initiative, designed to provide young people with meaningful work experience and training. As an Education Programme Assistant (Job Start), you will support the delivery of educational initiatives across West Belfast. You will help promote learning opportunities, assist with community-based education programmes, and contribute to campaigns that encourage lifelong learning and skills development. You’ll work closely with schools, community organisations, and local education providers to build a more informed, skilled, and empowered community in West Belfast.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning and development of educational initiatives within West Belfast Partnership Board.
- Help develop educational opportunities in West Belfast.
- Engage with community organisations and schools to establish learning pathways and promote access to education.
- Promote educational programmes and partnerships that enhance learning outcomes and community engagement.
- Communicate the impact of educational programmes through media, social media, and the WBPB website.
- Contributing to the overall work of the WBPB team in delivering education-focused services.
- Planning and delivering educational events such as information sessions and workshops.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as required to support the evolving needs of the education service.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of issues within an area of deprivation.
- Motivated to make a difference in the community.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic IT and social media skills.
- Interest in education, or community development.
- Be able to work as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of the West Belfast area and local community groups.
- Experience volunteering or working on community projects.
- Interest in digital engagement (websites, social media).
- Knowledge of the WBPB Easter School.
- Knowledge of the WBPB Aisling Bursaries.

Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
