Its mission is to "involve people who live and work in West Belfast in generating social, economic and physical development and to ensure West Belfast contributes to and benefits equitably from, developments in the city as a whole". West Belfast Partnership has established close links with government departments, Belfast City Council, elected representatives, the community and voluntary sector, the private sector and the wider local community to encourage, develop and support a range of economic, social and physical regeneration projects in the west Belfast area. Key areas of work include Education; Housing, Planning and the Environment; Health and well-being; Economic Development; Community Planning and Neighbourhood Renewal. West Belfast Partnership is committed to collaborative partnership working to make a real difference to people's lives in west Belfast and across the city. This role is part of the Department for Communities Job Start Initiative, designed to give young people meaningful work experience and training.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting the Resilient West Belfast App.
  • Encourage local people and service providers to download and use the Resilient West Belfast app to access health and wellbeing information.
  • Provide training to individuals and groups on how to use the app to find local support services, events, and health tips.
  • Manage, update and share local health news and events through the app.
  • Public Health Promotion.
  • Support campaigns that raise awareness of health issues in west Belfast including promotion of vaccine uptake, screening programmes, and signposting to relevant health services.
  • Share information and promote public health information about healthy living - including nutrition, physical activity, and mental wellbeing.
  • Help design posters, leaflets, and social media content to promote public health messages.
  • Community Events & Health Fairs.
  • Assist in planning and running health fairs, wellbeing days, and pop-up health stalls in community centres, schools, and local venues.
  • Engage with members of the public, helping them access services or learn about health opportunities.
  • Gather feedback to help improve future events.
  • Responding to Local Health Needs.
  • Support local efforts to raise awareness about important health issues in West Belfast (e.g., mental health, cost-of-living challenges, or local outbreaks).
  • Work with partner organisations to share accurate information through community networks and the app.
  • Learning & Development.
  • Take part in training on topics such as health promotion, communication, and event organisation.
  • Learn about public health, digital engagement, and community development from experienced mentors.
  • Gain valuable work experience for future roles in health, community work, or local government.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of issues within an area of deprivation.
  • Motivated to make a difference in the community.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic IT and social media skills.
  • Interest in health & wellbeing, or community development.
  • Be able to work as part of a team.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of the West Belfast area and local community groups.
  • Experience volunteering or working on community projects.
  • Interest in digital engagement (apps, websites, social media)
