Housing Officer
Job description
We are looking for a Housing Officer to deliver an effective patch management service. You’ll ensure tenancies are managed, help people to sustain tenancies, manage rental income and oversee excellence in service delivery to customers. It will be fast paced, it will not always be plain sailing, but it will be so rewarding. We are looking for someone who is a problem solver, confident, customer focussed, resilient with a flexible, can-do attitude will help the service run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Develop positive customer relationships with tenants in your patch, providing an understanding of tenant needs, expectations and views through an effective customer intelligence and feedback framework.

- Maximise rental income in your patch, effectively managing rent arrears in accordance with policy, with support from the Income Recovery team.
- Contribute to annual rent and charges setting in your area, engaging with tenants to shape this to meet customer needs.
- Lead and manage your allocated patch, ensuring that the wellbeing of the patch is advanced (e.g. rent income, repairs, anti-social behaviour, tenant engagement, customer satisfaction, external partnerships).
- Respond to, manage, investigate and report all cases of anti-social behaviour in accordance with Clanmil policy and procedures, using a range of resolution and enforcement strategies as appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Educated to degree level plus one years’ experience (within the last seven years) working in housing/support services or tenancy/estate management/ community/ voluntary sector.
- OR five years’ experience (within the last seven years) working in a housing/support services or tenancy/estate management/ community/ voluntary sector.
- OR completed GEM programme with 18 months relevant housing experience.
- Experience of working in a customer focused environment with a proven ability of delivering a high standard of customer service.
- One years’ experience (within the last five years) of staff management.
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be able to travel to meet the requirements of the post without the reliance on public transport.
Desirable Skills
- Professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Housing or other relevant professional qualification.
