Community Engagement Officer


Job description

As Community Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the implementation of Inspire’s community engagement strategy. A key part of this role will involve building new, and maintaining relationships with people who use our services and the communities they work with and for across the island of Ireland. Responsibilities

  • Support the Community Engagement Manager to maintain and develop the service user engagement and volunteering frameworks, including coordination of regular meetings and communications.
  • Support people who use our services to engage with opportunities that empower them to share their views and be more involved in the services they receive.
  • Assist with organising community engagement events and activities throughout the year and attend when required.
  • Provide administrative support including supporting the Community Engagement Manager in the recording and monitoring of outcomes and impact of the user involvement and volunteering strands of the Community Engagement Strategy,

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A full current driving licence and access to a car. Consideration will be given to alternative travelling proposals in respect of applicants with a disability who cannot hold a licence. Business Insurance is a requirement for this position.
  • Possess a third level qualification (or equivalent) in a related or similar discipline, or 5 years experience in social care, community development or similar.
  • Have at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent inclusive written and verbal communication skills focusing on people with a range of communication / capacity abilities.
  • Ability to empower people with lived experience using co-production methodology.
  • Ability to engage and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including arranging and chairing meetings and events as well as one to one interactions.
  • Excellent organisational and creative skills with ability to work on own initiative but also as part of a small team.
