Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: JIM MCKEE ART GALLERY As Gallery Assistant, the successful applicant will help in the day to day running of the busy Jim McKee Art Gallery, providing retail support, updating social media and website, managing orders, stock and carrying out deliveries. Weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day manning of the art gallery, responding to customer enquiries both in person and by email, on pricing and stock availability.
  • Taking payments for paintings, prints, antiques and cards.
  • Packaging orders and posting them both locally and internationally.
  • Invoicing clients for payment.
  • Delivering paintings to framers and collecting paintings on request.
  • Stocking local distributors (e.g. cafes, craft shops) with cards and prints on request.
  • Packing and unpacking van for shows and exhibitions.
  • Maintaining a tidy and efficient gallery space.
  • Posting products and offers on social media.
  • Opening and closing the gallery.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle cash and card payments.
  • Organisation skills (keeping records, postage records etc).
  • Physically capable of carrying out manual work (some lifting required).
  • Full clean driving licence required.
  • Social Media skills - ability to upload photos/video and caption them efficiently.
  • Computer skills - Email, Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend work on Saturdays/Sundays when required.

Desirable Skills

  • An interest in art and antiques.
  • Digital Marketing skills.
