Job description

The North West Civil Rights Archive is a three-year collaborative project between the Bloody Sunday Trust /Museum of Free Derry, Guildhall Press and Archive Ireland, which will bring together the existing archives of all three organisations. The existing collections, much of which have never been seen before, will be combined with new materials, e.g. oral and video histories, publications, films etc. The Web and Digital Channel Developer will make material charting the progress of Civil Rights in the North West digitally accessible and engaging for all.

Responsibilities

  • Create a website for the NWCRA to link to the digital archive, events and news.
  • Support the creation of digital content and resources designed to deepen engagement with the NWCRA.
  • Integrate NWCRA collections management software (Modes) into the project website.
  • Help manage social media channels and other online resources to promote involvement in the NWCRA.
  • Manage the allocated budget for the above work.
  • Participate in NWCRA strategic planning and development.
  • Assist NWCRA staff with reporting on digital elements and attend meetings as required.
  • Attend appropriate training and personal development designed to enhance personal skill levels, thereby assisting the development of the NWCRA.
  • Work with project colleagues to ensure integrated content delivery across all relevant digital channels.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • A third level qualification plus at least two years experience in a digital media role Or Three years demonstrable experience in the areas outlined above.
  • Confident in creatively using digital media to engage and inspire audiences.
  • Experience in communicating with a diverse range of audiences / consumers on digital media channels including website and social media.
  • Ability to develop engaging cross platform written digital content relevant to a large project.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Able to plan and organise time effectively.
  • Project management skills; confident working on various projects with competing deadlines.

Desirable Skills

  • Interested to learn about the cultural heritage sector.
