IT Support and Installation Assistant


Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: NI TECHNOLOGY LTD. The IT Support and Installation Assistant will work alongside the IT Manager to provide hands-on technical support, equipment setup, and installation services for NI Technology’s clients. The role will involve visiting customer sites to assist with hardware and software installation, troubleshooting IT issues, and ensuring systems are configured and maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup and installation of computers, printers and networking equipment at client sites.
  • Support the installation and configuration of software, operating systems and updates.
  • Help diagnose and resolve common technical issues under supervision.
  • Prepare, test, and maintain IT equipment before deployment.
  • Record completed installations, service visits, and equipment details accurately.
  • Support on-site cabling, mounting, and basic electrical safety checks (training provided).
  • Assist with collection, delivery, and safe handling of hardware and components.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company health and safety procedures.
  • Maintain good communication with clients and provide basic user guidance when required.
  • Follow company data protection, confidentiality, and cyber security procedures at all times.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • 5 GCSEs (grades A-C or equivalent), including Mathematics and English.
  • A full valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Strong customer service focus with a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn new skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware or networking.
  • Experience building, fixing, or upgrading PCs or laptops (formal or informal).
  • Awareness of health and safety in a technical environment.
  • Interest in pursuing a technical or engineering career.
