Warehouse Operator
Job description
We are seeking a Warehouse operator to join our team at O’Neills. They will perform an array of functions that may include receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing and retrieving stock in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Assist warehouse operating procedures, unloading trucks and ensure goods are received, put away, picked and packed according to procedure and to required standards.
- Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area.
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins according to organizational standards.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy,
- Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, printing request, recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed through a computer. May also assist in counting of physical inventory, report any discrepancies.
- Communicate and cooperate with supervisors and co-workers.
- Operate and maintain preventively warehouse vehicles and equipment.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations & housekeeping compliance (5 S) in warehousing, material & manual handling always in accordance with company policy and government legislation.
- Able to perform calmly under pressure with conflicting demands; must be able to prioritise conflicting tasks to achieve tight deadlines.
- Ensure that company policies are always adhered to within the department, this includes the Equal Opportunities policy, Harassment policy, Health & Safety policy and Training Policy.
- Any other reasonable duties requested.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- GCSE level of education achieved including English and Maths.
- Manual handling.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Strong team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, able to work with people at all levels in the organisation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Familiarity with modern warehousing practices and methods.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work shifts and lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work in a fast-moving environment and to be deadline driven, can do attitude.
- Ensure good working relationships are maintained with colleagues.
- Ensure that absenteeism and tardiness are kept to a minimum.
Desirable Skills
- Working knowledge ISO9001 quality management system.
- Environmentally friendly approach to business with knowledge of ISO 14001.
- Proven working experience as a warehouse worker.
- Current forklift licence.
- Valid driver’s licence.
