THE EMPLOYER IS: CLAIRVILLE RESIDENTIAL HOME. We are a small 17 bed family run, home from home. We are currently on the look out for naturally compassionate and warm hearted individuals to assist the residents as care workers. As a Care Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping our residents live with comfort, dignity, and respect. From assisting with daily routines to sharing a chat over a cup of tea, every moment you give makes a genuine difference.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving report from person-in-charge.
  • Assisting residents as necessary with personal care needs.
  • Facilitating regular activities with residents.
  • Assisting in delivering a high standard of holistic care to residents, promoting the core care values of privacy, dignity, rights, fulfilment, independence and choice at all times.
  • Ensuring that the high care standards of the home are met at all times.
  • Observing and reporting changes in resident’s condition to management.
  • Maintaining records in accordance with the home’s policies and procedures.
  • Dealing with enquiries when necessary, referring to the Head of Home as appropriate.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Desire to help others.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A minimum of NVQ Level 2 Award in Adult Health and Social Care or a willingness to work toward this.
  • NISCC registered (or willing to apply).
  • Be willing to complete an Access NI check.
  • Provide 2 references.

Desirable Skills

  • Previous care experience is helpful but not essential - full training provided.
  • Experience of working with people with Dementia.
  • Experience administering medication.
  • Good communication skills with a wide range of people but particularly with older people.
  • Experience with team building and leadership skills.
  • Appropriate IT skills to be able to use Microsoft Word and the Internet.
  • Good reporting/recording skills.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience supervising other staff.

Flexible/Reduced Hours: May be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional Hours: The employer may offer extra hours depending on availability.
