Job description
We are seeking a Coffee Shop Assistant to join our team. Greet customers and take orders efficiently. Provide recommendations on menu items and answer questions about products. Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
Responsibilities
- Prepare specialty coffee drinks including espressos, cappuccinos, lattes, and other beverages to company standards. Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee equipment.
- Ensure consistency in drink quality and presentation. Stay updated on coffee preparation techniques and brewing methods.
- Process cash and card payments accurately using the point-of-sale system. Handle cash register operations including opening and closing procedures.
- Close the till at the end of shifts. Process refunds and exchanges when necessary.
- Work effectively as part of a team to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Communicate clearly with colleagues about stock levels, equipment issues, and customer needs.
- Support team members during peak times. Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Clear and clean tables, chairs, and customer areas throughout the shift. Perform opening duties including setting up equipment, preparing ingredients, and arranging displays.
- Execute closing procedures including cleaning equipment, securing the premises, and preparing for the next day. Maintain high standards of hygiene in all food preparation and service areas. Follow health & safety regulations at all times.
- Stock and replenish supplies including coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, and retail items. Monitor inventory levels and inform management of low stock. Receive and check deliveries.
- Maintain product displays and ensure items are properly labeled with prices and allergen information. Keep the workspace organised and ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Prepare light food items such as sandwiches, salads, or pastries as required. Follow food safety and hygiene standards consistently.
- Assist with promotional activities and upselling products. Maintain knowledge of all menu items, ingredients, and allergen information.
- Report equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to management. Adhere to company policies and procedures.

- Technical coffee skills.
