Pottery Studio Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: BELFAST CERAMIC WORKSHOP LTD Belfast Ceramics Studio is an open access clay studio providing classes for all levels in ceramic techniques as well as membership based access for professional makers and independent hobby potters. The studio assistant will help in many aspects of running the studio and will learn how to manage memberships, materials as well as tools and equipment essential for the studio to run smoothly. It is an opportunity to learn how to manage a studio as well as gain ceramic knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Recycling and preparing clay.
- Assisting members with using the studio.
- Packing and unpacking kilns.
- Cleaning the studio.
- Glazing pottery.
- Preparing materials and tools for classes.
- Creating social media posts.
- Heavy lifting ie bags of clay weighing 12.5kg and large kiln shelves weighing 10kg.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- No formal qualifications are required.
- Willingness to take part in all aspects of running a pottery studio from cleaning to assisting in the making of the pottery is essential.
- Ability to work well with others, assisting customers and the studio manager.
Desirable Skills
- Can work independently.
- Interest in ceramics/pottery.
- Able to learn quickly.
- Good attention to detail.
- Creative.
