Concern Worldwide (UK) is looking for a Direct Marketing Executive - Cash and Alternative Gifts to join the team on a permanent basis. About the role: The Direct Marketing Executive will play a key role in delivering high-quality direct marketing campaigns that drive income and engagement from individual supporters. Focusing on cash appeals and alternative gifts, this role will manage the planning, delivery, and evaluation of multi-channel campaigns that inspire supporters to give, strengthen loyalty, and maximise return on investment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Supporter Development activity, managing cash appeals, newsletters and our Gifts trading product.
  • Partner with our creative agency, print and postage suppliers, digital team and inhouse data analysts. Work closely with external agencies and suppliers to ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and to brand and compliance standards
  • Full end-to-end campaign management including briefing agencies, sourcing material, managing data selections, developing artwork, organising fulfilment, campaign analysis and reporting, managing costs and invoice processing.
  • Review direct marketing campaigns and ensure that information is used to maximise income for future campaigns. Coordinate segmentation, targeting and personalisation strategies with the Data and Insight team to improve response and retention.
  • Oversee copywriting, artwork, and proofing processes to ensure accuracy and effectiveness. Support the continuous improvement of cash and alternative gift programmes through testing, innovation, and supporter feedback.
  • Support the Senior Direct Marketing Executive in managing campaign budgets, ensuring value for money and accurate financial reconciliation.
  • Ensure all activity complies with fundraising regulations, GDPR, and organisational ethical standards.
  • Work with the Individual Giving Team to implement the Emergency Fundraising Strategy and play a key part in Concern’s emergency fundraising response.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Concern so that you can communicate the key messages effectively to both new and existing supporters.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of using direct marketing channels such as mail and email.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Experience of working successfully with external suppliers or internal stakeholders to deliver direct marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrable analytical skills and highly numerate.
  • Experience of using a database.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written skills including experience of writing and editing emails
  • Demonstrable organisation skills and experience of managing a varied workload.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
  • A collaborative, proactive, and solution-focused approach.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in an agile manner and adapt to changes quickly.
  • Shows strong initiative; ability to bring in new, creative ideas.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in the charity sector or individual giving fundraising.
  • Knowledge of online marketing.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good understanding of delivering excellent customer service/donor care.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and data segmentation tools

Job Location: Belfast (Hybrid) Concern operates a hybrid mode, staff are expected to come into their base office once per week or the monthly equivalent i.e. 4 times per month.
