Youth Development Worker (with administration duties on behalf of Glenbank Community Association) The Youth Development Worker will play a central role in supporting young people’s personal and social development while ensuring the effective day-to-day running of Glenbank Community Centre. This role combines direct youth work with responsibility for administration, grant applications, oversight of centre activities and events, and ensuring the building is well-maintained and welcoming.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate a programme of activities for young people that promote personal growth, wellbeing, confidence, and community involvement.
- Build positive relationships with young people, offering support, guidance, and opportunities for learning and participation.
- To support curriculum development including social and life skills.
- Attend meetings of Ballysillan and Upper Ardoyne Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership meetings.
- Manage and monitor room bookings, schedules, and usage of facilities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, and other relevant policies and conduct regular risk assessments.
- Provide regular written and verbal updates to the Management Committee on youth work, funding, activities, and operational matters.
- Contribute to strategic planning and the development of community programmes.
- Support the recruitment, induction, and coordination of volunteers where required.
- Prepare and submit grant applications and funding bids to support youth projects and the wider community centre.
- Maintain accurate records of activities, participation, and outcomes for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
- Completion of relevant returns and monitoring forms for funders, to be signed off by the Management Committee.
- Be responsible for financial administration, including budgeting, petty cash, and expenditure tracking.
- Provide reports to the management committee in an agreed structure.
- Update and maintain your knowledge of the funding environment in youth development and related areas.
- Act as the first point of contact for centre users, ensuring a welcoming and safe environment.
- Oversee all activities and events within the centre, ensuring they are well-organised, inclusive, and delivered to a high standard.
- To promote good practice and inclusion and ensure activities are accessible to all.
- Work in partnership with schools, families, and other agencies to ensure young people have access to appropriate support and services.
- Promote inclusion and ensure activities are accessible and welcoming to all.
- Have designated officer training or willingness to complete the relevant training.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Management Committee in line with the objectives of Glenbank Community Association.
