Trainee Bakery Assistant
Job description
THE EMPLOYER IS: HARRISONS OF GREYABBEY This is a hands-on training role within the Harrison’s of Greyabbey bakery team. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation and production of a wide range of baked goods, including breads, scones, cakes, and pastries. Under supervision, the trainee will learn how to weigh, mix, shape, bake, and finish bakery products to a high standard. This position offers real work experience in a professional kitchen environment, with full on-the-job training provided to develop skills in food production, hygiene, and teamwork. The role is ideal for someone with an interest in baking, food preparation, or hospitality who wants to gain valuable experience in a busy artisan bakery setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist bakers in preparing desserts.
- Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens etc.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene in the bakery area.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages of ingredients or packaging.
- Plate food and help in dessert counter in restaurant.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- A genuine interest in baking and food preparation.
- Good attention to detail and willingness to learn new skills.
- Awareness of food safety standards.
- Ability to work on your feet and handle moderate physical activity (lifting flour bags, trays, etc.).
Desirable Skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions carefully.
- Team player with a positive attitude and good communication skills.
