Diabetic Nurse Specialist
Job description
The postholder will assist in the ongoing development and provision of evidence based specialist Diabetes Nursing Care for patients within the Trust. The postholder will assist in Nurse led Diabetes clinics, and will deliver Specialist Diabetes Nursing Services as part of a multidisciplinary team, both of which will reflect research based standards for the provision of the Diabetes nursing services, provide education and training for staff involved in the service, and review the service using a rigorous audit structure. Responsibilities
- Lead in facilitating the development and provision of a high quality, evidence based patient centred, Diabetes Nursing Service which will meet the requirements of Trust and Regional Strategies for the Provision of Diabetes Services.
- Meet regularly with the Diabetes team, Clinical Lead for Diabetes, Obstetric Team and Head of Service, reviewing caseloads and reporting on developments within the service.
- Lead in the analysis of areas of need relevant to the provision of an effective Diabetes Nursing Service.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Registered Nurse on part 1 (adult) Branch of current NMC register.
- Be trained or be willing to undertake training in independent / supplementary nurse prescribing course
- Hold a Specialist Practice Qualification in Diabetes/ or willing to undertake 5 Years post registration experience 2 of which must have been at band 6 in a settling delivery Diabetes care.
- Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
- This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by The Organisation which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.

- Ability to participate in evidence based practice
