THE EMPLOYER IS: FOYLE FOOT & ANKLE CLINIC The Clinical Assistant will support day-to-day operations within the podiatry clinic, working under the supervision of the Lead Clinician and Practice Manager. Duties will include preparing treatment areas, assisting with patient intake and documentation, managing clinical equipment and stock, supporting infection control procedures, and providing general administrative support. The role offers hands-on experience in a healthcare setting, exposure to clinical technologies, and opportunities for skill development in patient care and operational workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment areas and ensure all equipment is ready for patient care.
  • Assist with patient intake, including documentation and record-keeping.
  • Manage clinical equipment, stock levels, and supply ordering.
  • Support infection control procedures and maintain hygiene standards.
  • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling and filing.
  • Assist clinicians during treatments when required.
  • Ensure compliance with clinic protocols and health & safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the clinical team to support smooth operations.

Essential Skills

  • Attention to Detail - Ensuring accuracy in patient documentation and maintaining hygiene standards.
  • Organisational Skills - Ability to manage equipment, stock, and administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Communication Skills - Clear and professional interaction with patients and the clinical team.
  • Teamwork - Working collaboratively under the supervision of clinicians and managers.
  • Basic IT Skills - Competence in using clinic software for scheduling and record-keeping.
  • Manual Dexterity - Comfort in handling clinical instruments and assisting during treatments.
  • Time Management - Prioritising tasks in a busy clinical environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of Infection Control - Knowledge of hygiene protocols and safety procedures.
  • Previous Healthcare Experience - Exposure to clinical or patient-facing environments.
  • Knowledge of Podiatry Procedures - Familiarity with common treatments and terminology.
  • First Aid or Basic Life Support Certification - Adds value for patient safety.
  • Customer Service Skills - Ability to provide a positive patient experience.
  • Experience with Clinical Software - Understanding of electronic health records or scheduling systems.
  • Stock Management Experience - Handling inventory and ordering supplies.
