Chemotherapy Staff Nurse, Band 5
Job description
The post holder will focus and lead under the direction of the Ward Sister / Charge Nurse ON key areas, within the organisation’s governance framework.
Responsibilities
- Assess, develop, implement and evaluate patient / client care, under the guidance of the line manager.
- Provide person-centred nursing to ensure continuity of care within agreed standards.
- Adhere to Trust guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Adhere to the Data Protection Act (1998).
- Contribute to effective team working and supervise qualified and / or unqualified staff.
- Comply with nursing strategy, trust policies, procedures, guidelines, protocols and codes of conduct.
- Contribute to the care of patients requiring administration of chemotherapy and/or supportive treatments.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Degree, Diploma or other nursing qualification allowing registration with NMC OR Registered on Part 1 (Branch - Adult) of the NMC register.
- Evidence of good communication skills.
Desirable Skills
- Recent experience in the last 12 months of working with patients diagnosed with cancer.
- Experience of working in a specialised haematology/oncology unit.
- Experience in administration of chemotherapy.
