Fishery Attendant

THE EMPLOYER IS: Q ADVENTURES. Q Lake at Movilla is looking for a Fishery Attendant to support the day-to-day running of our fishing lake and facilities. This part-time role is perfect for someone who enjoys the outdoors, is interested in angling or nature, and takes pride in keeping the site clean, safe, and welcoming for visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, and store various types of bait suitable for different fishing species and conditions. Gain hands-on experience with both natural and artificial baits and understand their appropriate usage.
  • Training in site-specific H&S procedures, including water safety, handling fishing equipment safely, and use of PPE. You will also learn emergency procedures and risk assessments relevant to outdoor and water-based work environments.
  • Basic monitoring of water conditions (e.g. temperature, clarity, pH testing) and an introduction to how these factors impact fish health and fishing success. Developing awareness of local aquatic ecosystems and environmental regulations.
  • Gain skills in managing and monitoring fish stocks, including feeding, restocking, and tracking fish health. Learn to identify common local fish species and understand their behaviours and habitats.
  • Practical training on how to maintain fishing gear (e.g., rods, nets), inspect and repair minor damage, and contribute to the general upkeep of the fishery grounds including paths, signage, and angling platforms.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential Skills

  • Able to interact politely with the public and answer questions confidently.
  • Comfortable using simple tools and carrying out minor tasks.
  • Understands and follows health and safety practices, especially near water.
  • Enjoys working in nature, in all types of weather.
  • Works independently and takes initiative with tasks.

Desirable Skills

  • No previous experience necessary - full training will be provided.
  • Interest in fishing, conservation, or outdoor work is a plus.
