Communications Officer - FORWARD Project
Job description
The FORWARD Project, funded by PEACEPLUS, is seeking a part-time Communications Officer to manage the project's website, social media, and publicity in line with SEUPB communications guidelines. Based at Éalú, Dungannon, the Communications Officer will ensure effective communication between the five project partners and promote the project's peacebuilding and cross-community ethos. The role will involve travel throughout the region, requiring a proactive and creative individual with experience in community work and knowledge of peace and reconciliation initiatives and their requirements.
Responsibilities
- Communications & Publicity. Manage and maintain a FORWARD Project website and social media platforms. Develop and implement a communications strategy to promote the project’s activities and impact.
- Ensure all publicity materials comply with SEUPB Communications Guidelines. As required, respect the confidentiality and ensure the privacy of project participants. Create press releases, newsletters, and promotional content to engage stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination. Ensure excellent communication between the five project partners. Liaise with community groups, funders, and stakeholders to promote project activities.
- Support the Project Co-ordinator in delivering key messages. Content Creation & Branding. Design and produce publicity materials, including brochures, reports, and digital content.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all project communications. Capture and share stories of impact, highlighting the project's contribution to peace and reconciliation.
- Travel throughout the region to attend events, meetings, and community engagements. Represent the project at public forums, conferences, and networking opportunities.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5 years experience working in a community setting with ex combatant groups and members of the CNR/PUL community. Minimum 5 years experience running Women’s Projects, Women’s Groups and Youth Projects.
- Experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, preferably within the community/voluntary sector. Knowledge of peace and reconciliation initiatives and cross-community work/cross border.
- Strong digital skills, including website management and social media strategy. Ability to create engaging content for different audiences and platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks efficiently. Commitment to the peacebuilding and cross-community ethos of the project.
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of SEUPB communications guidelines and public sector reporting requirements. Experience in graphic design, video editing, or multimedia content creation. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving project needs.
Further Information
As part of the Communication Officers Role, you will be working with people from diverse communities across the region including ex-prisoners and former combatants and former members of the security forces. Discretion and confidentiality are key requirements of this role. Due to the sensitive nature of some of the work which the FORWARD project will carry out, a high degree of personal integrity and discretion is required, as well as an ability to work with people who will not want any publicity.
